This film is an unsentimental take on detachment - fromt eh quotation by Caus at the start, to the end, it shows what it is like to try and live and care about people, especially the young.
As a former teacher, I recognised a lot - the commodification of education, the children who are lost and have no adult to care and support them, teachers who do really care but are stymied by the system.
It really made me think, and some of teh scenes were more works of art than straight narrative - why didn't it win a slew of awards?
