I'd be delirious to think that I could get away without mentioning Shutter Island while doing a series on psychological thrillers.I really didn't understand shutter Island the first time I watched it , I guess I didn't pay much attention (which you shouldn't do btw). Two US Marshals are on board a small boat, travelling to the Ashecliffe Hospital for the criminally insane on Shutter Island in Boston Harbor. They are investigating the disappearance of one of the patients, Rachel Solando.Leonardo DiCaprio plays a US Marshal Teddy Daniels , Mark Ruffalo plays Chuck investigation partner of Teddy . The movie goes back and forth between Ted's past and present. There are so many tiny details that everyone would look past the first time they watch it which is why this isn't a one time watch movie. Teddy having panic attacks, taking medication , the patients of the island looking at him a certain way everything makes sense in the end . Shutter Island is beyond what my brain can fathom . Every time I watch it I pick up on the details that I left out the previous time. I'm not going to even try to give you a synopsis because it's impossible for me to articulate properly what this movie. There are certain movies that make you feel so small and tiny in the grand scheme of things and this is one of them . There has been so much thought that has been put into making this movie and it shows. You should keep your eyes peeled while watching this movie because the music , the colors everything has a deeper meaning. The background music digs deep into the scene and mirrors what is happening on screen. The atmosphere that has been created is mysterious, broody , esoteric .Leonardo DiCaprio never fails to deliver his best , but I loved Mark Ruffalo in this movie he is understated and Trust me you are not going be anywhere close to disappointed. Even if you know the ending you could still watch the movie and be blown away because it is that good. Go break your shutter Island virginity!
