Overall, it was a extremely well made story. This is my first Stephen King novel and I already enjoy the way he writes. The book is well detailed and keeps you invested yet it's always easy to understand. Something I think the book definitely handled better than the movie was Jack Torrance himself. He felt like a truly developed character. He was flawed but tried to do what was best in the end for his family and it's ultimately tragic what happens to him. My only complaint is that I feel like it takes maybe a little too long for something really interesting to start happening. It's like halfway through the book before Danny encounters the woman in Room 217. I know that time was taken to build up suspense and to develop the characters but I wouldn't have minded if one or two things occurred before than. What's your opinion on the book?
