I was very skeptical about watching this as a huge Jane Austen fan, quite often adaptations don't live up to expectations, but I have to say I was very happily proved wrong in this case. From the off Sanditon was playful, funny and heart-breakingly real. The writers didn't shy away from some hard-hitting story lines which weren't gratuitous in the slightest. They worked and told some of the grittier tales that no doubt existed during this time. You feel for the characters and their various plights (some more than others!) and can't help but look forward to the next episode! I was absolutely gutted to hear that there isn't a second series planned at this stage - this is a real travesty. I won't reveal too much if you have yet to see this fantastic series, but there are so many story lines left unfinished - too much left unsaid. Please, please, please re-think this decision!
