Copied this review but it read my mind.....
Worst war movie created in recent times !
— by simply merging multiple independent scenes — PATHETIC editing — no emotional connection or bonding established with the characters.
- Ajay Devgan breaks into his maratha dialogues every now and then; he is flanked by 2 to 3 commandos / deputies in every scene who are doing nothing except following him. Our typical hero is never injured, despite the bombing all around him on the airstrip. His wife’s character is an avoidable role with only a couple of scenes and zero dialogues. The anniversary celebration song is a ridiculous addition to the movie.
- Sanjay Dutt’s unimaginably funny heroics at the climax wherein he kills a complete enemy platoon single handedly with a dagger/axe of sorts. The enemy though carrying guns in previous scenes, suddenly donot have any guns when it comes to attacking Sanjay Dutt. They just keep dancing around him, while he continues to slay them even with one hand. Not to forget, his civilian character is more agile than the military characters of Ajay and Sharad Kelkar. He conveniently leaps onto multiple tanks, destroying them one after the other. He also commutes at ease, across India and Pakistan, and apparently on-foot but faster than the Pak army who he encounters twice enroute.
- Sonakshi is a total misfit, considering that her character actually is expected to be the real storyline of the movie (true events). Its painful to digest her over the top dialogues, killing a leopard with one hand (to literally justify her name Sherni), suddenly rendering a solo song on microphone amidst the chaos, dancing around and playing drums and bhajans while the plane is about to land.. the list is endless.
- Amy Virk is expression less, emotion less and lacks conviction in dialogues. You blink and you may miss that his plane also crashes in between, and he is then casually walking out of a sea; and flying again a few moments later, back on his base. His wife’s track is also shown in bits and pieces and doesn’t register at all with the audience.
- Sharad Kelkar is introduced, having broken the jaw of an enemy boxer and being married to a disabled muslim girl; both facts irrelevant with no connection to the movie. A real good actor, but not given any footage as compared to the macho duo of Ajay & Sanjay.
- Yaya khan says “we ruled India for 400 years”, it was the Britishers who ruled the union of India (including our neighbour nation), not Yaya khan, unless he thinks he is a descendant of one of the mughal emperors
- Nora Fatehi - a spy track inserted for the heck of it. Her single-shot fight sequence with her lover/husband (shown as reflection in mirror) is one of the very few watchable scenes. Her execution scene, yet again, appears a tad bit funny in the middle of some alleged patriots of our neighbour nation flogging themselves.
- and the excruciating dialogues like :: “agar taj mahal pyar ki nishani hai, toh hindustan tere baap ki kahaani hai” - what in the world is meant by that ???
This is 2021 and I couldn’t believe the level of stupidity being served to the audience in name of patriotism, what a waste of time !!
Can't believe Ajay Devgan doing movies like this....
Watch SherShah instead !! - million times better..
