Writers were too concerned about woke-ness. No high-level lawyer is going to call a doctor (who is female) a "she-doctor," as though women can't be doctors. No low-end lawyer is going to say that either. In-fact the premise was extremely promising, but the phantom sexism that kept pummeling us in the face distracted from what was a bundle of potential.
Character development was nil, and depth was just the same. What little care they put into crafting the character's backstory felt forced, as though they wanted the viewer to like the main character, when really she was just exploiting old folks. Instead, I had to watch how men are bad and sexist. This woman stares a gun in the face (presumably for the first time in her life) and doesn't seem to care, as though anyone could stay perfectly calm, while lounging in a torture chair. Hardly believable. -And I was really looking forward to this movie.
