I bought Madden 21 after not buying Madden 20.
I skipped Madden 20 due to the lackluster treatment of the franchise game mode and the overall quality of the game not progressing with current gen consoles.
I should have waited on purchasing Madden 21 for a few weeks and read reviews. The game still has a plethora of glitches and bugs that have been present in the series for years. Franchise mode is still a shell of its former self. MUT aggressively pushes you towards expensive micro transactions to stay competitive with players that spend hundreds of dollars on EA and the NFL’s card gambling simulator.
The new modes added are unpolished and unfinished. Face of the Franchise has to be the worst attempt at a story mode in a sports franchise ever.
Honestly, just wait for the game to go on sale or go to Madden 21 on Twitch if you are interested in the game. EA is giving out free game codes. EA giving out thousands of free copies of the game a little over a week after I spent $80 on the game basically devalues my purchase, makes it so I will never preorder another Madden game again, and for that matter even if I want a Madden game I’ll just wait until I get a free copy for retweeting a hashtag on Twitter or the game goes on a decent sale.
Why spend my money on this franchise when all you have to do is hashtag something for EA? Especially since the reason EA is giving away all the free game codes was so that EA could stop the negative backlash on social media they created by releasing a lackluster product. With EA’s recent track record with this franchise, we’ll be right back in this situation next year, so I’ll just wait for those free codes next year instead of purchasing EA’s game.
After this horrible experience from the NFL and EA, I will not be purchasing anything from either companies for the foreseeable future. This game borderlines on false advertisement and is predatory in nature due to its card gambling simulator.
It’s hard to believe that the NFL is ok with another company making the NFL brand look as bad as Madden 21 makes the NFL look.
Maybe the game should release biannually and have $20-$30 expansion style updates on the years a new title is not released. Otherwise Madden will never be what it once was again. EA has proven over the last 10 years that they can not produce a quality product.
