Butterfly Moon

Oh man. I wish John Legend was a better actor because his voice is great. He even hit that Ted Neeley high note when he sang "get oooooooout". I just sensed that he didn't feel it. He came off quite flat emotionally and he's a bit too "cute". It looked like he was trying not to laugh sometimes when he was acting with others. He was better on his own. I thought Caiaphus, Annas and Judas were astonishing but they're also my favourite characters in the film (along with pontius pilate - barry denan) which still stands up as my favourite version. The thing is the songs are so good that I could never give any production a low score and that's the magic of Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice. This is the best musical ever written.

I've only seen 1/2 of the first episode. It is funny and good satire. I guess I don't quite understand point. Then again I have not watched any of the types of films the show is satirising like The Girl on The Train but the tropes are strong enough that I recognise them. It's still funny regardless. I think I just hate that lifetime aesthetic and production quality so much that I can't watch it. Funny is not enough for me. I also feel (being a brit) that we had satire overload in the 00s to the point where I'm still in recovery. Had I been American, I think I would have lapped this up.
