Jason Finnimore

I enjoyed this version, there were a few goods A few bads and an ugly. The good I like the fresh take on the story every cat presents themselves instead of the other cats introducing. I love the original story with Victoria, however the bad and the ugly take away from this. The bad I am just gonna come out and say some of the casting is just terrible. For instance Jason Derulo the worst thng to ever happen to this beloved musical. His oversinging chords, and holding note too long has made me hate the once loved Rum Tum Tugger. Not the only bad thing, the rendition of Mongo Jerry and Rumple Teaser is barely sung it's, more speaking with music behind it and sometimes there cadence is not right. Now to the ugly Idris Elba is one of my favorite actors I have loved everything I have seen him in, dont get me wrong is take on Macaity is great until he shed his coat and is in his true cat form ...first of all the cat is all wrong if you listen to the words of his song it states that he is a tall ginger cat, however Idris Elba is an all black cat how could you get this wrong?? And then old deuteronomy..you cast Judy Dentch..we all love her, but you realize that old deuteronomy is the father of most of the cats ? No probably not did your writers even read the original play script? I give this movie a rent only ..if you have a free rental and there is nothing else to watch. Shame this could have been great with a few casting tweaks and some wardrobe fixes.
