Although long for a bond film (which I was aware of going in at the Cinema) it never felt like it. I found they had the pacing right and after the shocker of the last film.
I thought I was a drastic improvement and also an appropriate farewell to Daniel Craig as James Bond.
My favourite in the series remains Skyfall but this is comfortably second and it does justify the decisions made by the characters at each stage. It subverted my expectations of a bond film but in a positive way that didn’t hurt the film in any way.
My only criticism (minor spoiler alert) is detailed below but for those who don’t want to know. I would recommend seeing this film as i still believe it a very strong entry in the modern Bond films saga.
The criticism is that Remi Malek‘s character, while well acted I fell was sold short by a script that ran out of time and was (understandably) focused on Bond. I found the reasons for the actions he took seemed flimsy but I accredit that to the lack of a sufficient time for elaborating on his backstory/reasons by the writers.
