I understand the direction the direction the movie went in. They wanted to share something an excellent classic without gore and disturbing images everywhere. I like slashers and blood as much as the next person, but the remake has more shareability and discovery for all audiences. Is it clickbait in a way if they want to watch the original or the read rhe novel; kinda. Overall I didn't think it was horrible, but don't think its outstanding. The voice acting and art is fantastic. If the animation was better they would have complimented each otherwell and could have won an award even! The dialog, characters, and story-telling is a hit and miss at times. There are parts that do sway away from the novel (been quite some time). Overall I genuinely enjoyed it and will probably watch again. Give it a 7.5 - 8
