I have read all the books. I have also listened to all the audio books. They both are amazing.
To be clear I am fully aware that no show about a book can ever be 100% faithful to the book. There are too many details in books, that a screen play can not use. Some elements obviously need to be presented and explained easily in a scree play. But the core of the story should remain, the core of the characters should remain. The themes should remain.
This adaptation for the screen is nothing short of terrible. The changes they have made make no sense. The screen play seems written by people who have not read the books and have no idea about the nuances of the story.
The story is already about the power of woman, why did it need to be changed to make it out as if the dragon reborn can be a woman?
Why did the back story have to be changed that the arrogant men tried to control darkness, when it was both men and woman of power that sought more power? The whole story is constantly about how amazing woman are? Woke tropes for no reason at all.
4 tavern are announced, 4?? This is a key theme in the story and is discovered over time, not announced!
Why is Perin married at the beginning? Why what for? His character arc is one of the most amazing in the books, why did this need to be changed?
Why did Nynaeve back story have to be changed? what for?
The dialog is juvenile and on the nose, tells you what to think, and how to feel.
Shame on who ever bastardised this.
The only redeeming feature is the effects and the cinematography.
This may appeal to people who have not read the books, and want some light entertainment with a fantasy theme and woke tropes.
If loved the books avoid this.
