It is simply brilliant, but there is a enormous flaw. The flaw is that once you start reading it, you cannot stop, it is so good. You will fall into Rowling's world, and if you think the book is overrated, just read it and you will see.
It is about a boy named Harry James Potter, who is an orphan living with his cruel aunt and uncle, who hate his mother and father, and they make Harry's life feel like it is hell, until he is eleven, when the letters start arriving, which his uncle rips apart. But then the giant man Hagrid comes to his home on his birthday, telling him something that changes his life, changes his whole world. Rubues Hagrid, the keeper of the keys at Hogwarts School of Withcraft and Wizardry, tells Harry, that he is a wizard.
This book is one of the few books that is liked by parents and children both. If I had only just finished 'Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone' or, 'The sorcerer's stone' for the Americans, I would have rated five stars, and said I would have rated it six if I had could. But I have read the whole series, so I now there are better parts (If you can believe that) to come.
Rowling's writing is simply magical. From Diagon Alley and Hogwarts to Ron saying blimey, what's not there to love (except for Malfoy, Snape and the Dark Lord; the ones who have read it will know what I am talking about) ?
The names in the book are unique (not many in the first part, but if you read on to the next books, you will completely agree with me, like has anyone in the real world ever had a name like Dumbledore, but if your last name is truly Dumbledore, know that I am not insulting you) and the concept of magic and fantasy might make you think that it is such a common genre, but know this, some can compare to Rowling's books, like Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's 'Sherlock Holmes' series, but no other magic fiction book on the planet can compare to Harry Potter.
Some of you who have read other magic stories might think "Oh, but magic stories are just so babyish and cheesy," Harry Potter is not that, I mean the second part might even scare some of you (it certainly scared me, but I was a scared-by-the-tiniest-of-things seven year olf back then).
J.K Rowling is one of the best, if not the best, author in the whole word.
Read the book. If you do not read the book even after finishing reading this long review, you will do the biggest sin of all.
