Dulce Et Decorum Est is a poem by Wilfred Owen that talks about his experiences in the war and fighting and how it can affect a person, this poem was created as a reply to Jessie Pope poem that described war as a fun and wonderful place. During the poem Wilfred Owens uses strong words to attract and replicate what the war was like, “He plunges at me, guttering, choking, drowning.”. Wilfred Owen also uses accurate punctuation to make it seem like we are living in the moment, with making the characters in his poem yell and scream, “GAS! Gas! Quick, boys!”. Wilfred Owens also let’s the reader know that the events that happened are not forgotten by the soldiers but the gruesome, gory things they saw will stick with them for a very long time,”If in some smothering dreams”.
