If I can go back and remember the first animated movie I saw, it would 100% be Happy Feet. I watched this movie so much as a kid. It has always had a special place in my heart. The reviews for it are kind of disappointing, to be honest. The movie gives lots of good messages like taking care of the environment and being who you are, and lots of intense and aesthetic scenes. Some might say the environment message is “too harsh” and makes humans seem like monsters, but we have been trashing the environment forever, being nice has gotten us nowhere. The soundtrack is amazing, too! Lots of great scores, not just the songs and music sequences. The movie has great messages about being who you are in a dystopian society where everyone is expected to be the same. When a person, or Penguin, is different, they are blamed for problems because of their beliefs, only to find out it wasn’t because of them and they were wrong all along. This movie is important for young children. It does contain some innuendo, but all kids movies have that here and there. It’s all over Shrek! But no one says anything about it. Overall, Happy Feet is an amazing story with great animation and a great reminder of our natural planet.
