Like other reviewers, I'm a bit troubled by this movie. As an old guy with a lot of life left in me, I can't relate to these characters. It feels like they are written or created or acted by people who don't really know what is like to grow old. And the many gratuitous pauses at so many doors of elderly, incapacitated, demented people is not funny or informed. It's overdone, and contributes little to the storyline. The only character that felt real to me was Thelma's grandson, his live and devotion to her, his struggle to find himself - something I know and appreciate in my younger loves, and in my own life. He was marvelous, and marvelously acted.
