Giving it a zero makes no sense, but it still deserves a failing grade. How can they release a game like this in 2025…? Aside from the battle system, which has good potential, this game is actually worse than Sword and Shield — and that came out back in 2019. And if we go even further back, Xenoblade Chronicles on the Wii (2010) and Xenoblade Chronicles X on the Wii U (2015) completely surpass the open world of this Pokémon game (and the previous ones too). Pokémon is the most powerful franchise in the world — they owe it to the fans to deliver a game worthy of that name. In the past, Pokémon games used to push their consoles to the limit (Gold and Silver on Game Boy, Black 2 and White 2 on DS). Now it’s just minimum effort for maximum profit, and that can’t go on forever… Try playing Digimon Time Stranger — you’ll see the difference between a studio that actually cares about making proper games for its fans, with noticeable improvements in every new release.
