After reading Eyes turned skywards, I wanted to go on following Bob Sutherland's adventures in Scotland. In this novel, Bob, and his accomplice Monique, aka Vera, take us to northern Scotland, as a mysterious murder has just been perpetrated at Achnacharry commando training centre. Besides an exciting inquiry led by Bob and his MI11 comrades, we have the chance to travel through Northern Scotland and enjoy Loch Arkaig, Spean Bridge and so many other places. I haven't been bored a single minute while reading this novel. I highly recommend it!

This novel starts with a real event that occurred in northern Scotland in 1942 when the Duke of Kent and the whole crew of a Shorts Sunderland crashed inexplicably. From this time on, we follow Bob Sutherland, a former detective mobilized as a fighter pilot and Monique Dubois, aka Vera in adventures that follow one another at a frantic pace. Above all, we have the chance to visit northern Scotland and magic places such as Loch Ewe and what a pleasure it is to take a ride in a Sunderland to fly over Oban! Ce roman de Ken Lussey s'inspire d'un événement survenu en Ecosse en 1942 lorsque le Shorts Sunderland qui emporte le frère du roi George VI, le duc de Kent, s'écrase, laissant dans son sillage de nombreuses questions. L'auteur a donc choisi ce point de départ pour tisser son intrigue et permettre à Bob Sutherland, enquêteur et aviateur, de mener des investigations pour éclairicr le mystère qui entoure la fin tragique du Sunderland et de son équipage. De rebondissements en coups d'éclat, on voyage dans les magnfiques paysages d'Ecosse et on ne s'ennuie pas un instant. Même si cela reste une fiction, on n'en prend pas moins plaisir à voyager en compagnie de Bob et de Monique Dubois, alias Vera, aussi envoûtante qu'intrépide. Un moment de lecture agréable, en particulier lorsqu'on est amoureux de l'Ecosse.
