An interesting film on many levels. Yes, it reminds us that poverty sucks but that humanity is what keeps us alive. Yes it reminds us that those with the least wealth are often exploited by those with the most. The most disturbing impression I gained from this film was that reality and fiction are being merged, and most definitely not to the benefit of the actors. The director in the film is intent on making a movie that sheds light on its main characters lives and motivations, but in doing so he is making their lives more complicated and disrupted. However, there are moments of joy and insight, for example the scenes with the pigeons. This reveals cultural connections at a deep level, which bring people together regardless of their problems or shortcomings.
