A terrific “feel-good” movie, just like they used to make (I.e., unrealistic, but happy-ever-after). Weaves themes of aging, generational change, dealing with loss, sabermetrics v. Instincts, feminism, relationships, and competition into/around a great story of an aging baseball scout and his over-achieving daughter. I can see why the critics might shun this almost formulaic movie, but the performances of Amy Adams, Clint Eastwood, and even Justin Timberlake make this an overlooked “jewel”, IMHO.
