While I do admit, I'm not much of a DC expert, I will say that this is definitely a good start. Not every superhero movie these days has to be humor-laced, or grittier than sandpaper - I feel like this movie hits the right balances of tone, character, and timing. Superman is depicted at his best - a man not defined not by his powers alone, but by his character and actions, doing what he does because it's the right thing to do. When people need a hero, they look to him as a paradigm of hope, and he believes in the people he protects too. Lex Luthor is at his best too - scheming to undermine Supes and break the Man of Steel, and in this outing he's at his outright scummiest (and for him, that's good!). While there are some flaws (I saw the twist regarding as to how Lex broke into the Fortress of Solitude coming), they don't detract from the story and action too much so as to hurt it. I would definitely recommend watching this; this is what a story with Superman should look like - and anyone shooting crap about woke agendas and Super-immigration can go eat some kryptonite.
