I preordered it but couldn't play more than 10 hours on week one. That sucked because it seemed really cool, but was just a really exhausting game to play. Came back a year later, tried out the new casual mode (would be better named as Convenience Mode) and have had the most exhilarating highs and lows of my entire gaming career. Not even in the years of playing Elden Ring have i cried from frustration or celebrated completing objectives as many times as i have in the 110 hours i have spent playing Dragons Dogma 2. The Pawn’s yapping can be summarized by “come to think of it Master, yon aught of use i learned beyond the rift, come to think of it.” I got tired of it instantly in my first attempt at the game. I think I was just mad at the game for the loss system, and other things I didn’t want to deal with. I came at it this time with a better mindset and now I find the Pawns really charming and lovable. Learning to deal with the loss gauge isn’t as bad as I thought it would have been when I started really engaging with the game. There’s truly enough healing to go around that it doesn’t matter if you have 150 health or 1300 health.
This game is absolutely worth playing, but don’t go at it alone. The quality of life improvements over the updates has made it much easier to properly navigate the world and your objectives, but a lot is still left unaccounted for and it’s handy to look up
