I avoided this on its first run on TV in 2015, and really can't recall why. Seven years on and I really cannot recommend this highly enough, it is sublime. The boyish looks of the main characters, especially Kodi Smit-McPhee, hit early and hard. While we all know the core of the story, and there are a few scenes straight out of the 1981 Weir film (the bungled attack at the Nek), this is much more nuanced. The cinematography is also incredibly beautiful, transporting you to the Dardanelles. So, do yourself a favour and set up for a familiar and uncomfortable trip back to 1915. Lest we Forget.
