While there is merit to this story it is largely a collection of Islamic stereotypes that has been somewhat sanitised to meet Disney's ideal of being non-confrontational.
Pacing is problematic and some parts feel as if the director and editor threw up on the screen - the opening exposition is a choatic jumble of half thought out ideas with a voice over that confuses as much as it clarifies the beginning of the story.
To be fair I have only seen the first episode and the problems seen could be resolved further in the series. Iman Velleni is charming although he character is a little shallow (this is likely a problem with the script and not the actor). Hopefully she can bring charm to this series that I don't feel Brie Larson was able to bring to her Captain Marvel role.
