The general concept of this movie could’ve been done very well but wasn’t. Instead of the movie trying to depict healthy ways of discussing our differences, it makes it out to be a competition of who has it worse, instead of accepting that everyone can have different experiences that are both bad and not lumping them together. It also aggressively uses stereotypes that to me were distasteful. I don’t think this movie was progressive at all. It’s one thing to use the past to educate and create a better future, it’s another to use as a way to continue to divide and not progress. It makes it seem like we can’t talk and learn from each other to make a better tomorrow, instead that we have to avoid each other because we can never get along. No hate to the people who worked on and starred in the movie!
