Abysmal, 2 out of 10. Tarantino hit the bottom with this one

The title of this Chinese drama put me off at first. It sounded like a "chick flick". But after having enjoyed the "The Rise Of Phoenixes" so much, I gave "The Princess Weiyouing" a try. Just a few episodes in to it and I was completely hooked. I finished all 54 episodes in five days. Intriguing and suspenseful plots, lavish costumes, sumptuous ancient palace settings combined with superb performances by the actors, make this drama compelling viewing. The two lead actors play their roles wonderfully. Tiffany Tang as Weiyoung and Luo Jin as Prince Tuoba Jun are amazing. Tiffany's beguiling smiles just melt the heart. Even without an understanding of Mandarin, the English subtitles make it easy to follow the dialogues. There are a few things in the plots and the production that one could pick on; but overall, an enthralling series. Sometimes endings are not what one would want them to be, but I felt the last few episodes and the finale of this show were well done and left me satisfied with the outcome. Top show, do watch. 9/10
