Movie Review: Karate Kid: Legends (2025) I, myself along with my whole family, grew up watching Jackie Chan movies. We were practically raised by him! So when Karate Kid: Legends came out, I couldn’t contain my excitement. Watching it on November 1st with my own family felt like coming full circle. We set up a cozy movie night on the terrace, surrounded by nature and a feast of Taiwanese lauriat, pizza, and milk tea. The perfect combo for a movie that features a pizza guy named Li Fong (a.k.a. Stuffed Crust, lol). This film goes beyond the typical Karate Kid formula we’ve known for decades. It’s set in the bustling streets of New York City (The Big Apple), bringing a refreshing modern twist to the story. What makes it even more special is seeing the legendary Jackie Chan team up with the original Karate Kid himself, Ralph Macchio. Their chemistry and the blend of old and new generations make Legends truly one of a kind. I couldn’t help but notice how much older Jackie looks now and that realization hit me hard. It’s like a mirror showing how time flies. But his presence still carries that same warmth, wisdom, and gentle humor that made him an icon for so many of us. Beyond the thrilling martial arts sequences and intense competition, Karate Kid: Legends dives deep into emotional territory. It’s not just about mastering karate moves. It’s also about overcoming fear, facing one’s trauma, and learning that healing doesn’t happen alone. The movie beautifully highlights how family, friendship, and mentorship can be the strongest forms of support when life feels toughest. In the end, Karate Kid: Legends isn’t just a nostalgic trip for longtime fans. It’s a heartfelt reminder that no matter our age or struggles, we can all rise again. 🎬 Movie Review: The Elixir (Abadi Nan Jaya) 🧟‍♀️ Netflix Original | Released October 2025 ⭐️ Rating: 9/10 I’m not usually into horror or scary movies except when it’s about zombies! So on November 1st, I decided to give The Elixir a try and watched it with my family. I had already seen a few spoilers on social media, but out of curiosity (and a little FOMO), I still pushed through and watched it anyway. At first, I noticed that the Indonesian cast looked like a mix between Indian and Filipino but mostly leaned toward Indian features which made the visuals feel fresh and unique. The overall vibe felt like your typical zombie film at the beginning but what made it stand out was the balance between thrill and humor. It’s surprisingly funny at times, so you get moments of laughter in between all the chaos and screaming. The zombies themselves were terrifyingly fast, none of that slow-walking stuff! That alone made the scenes more intense and heart-pounding. But what really captured me was the story behind the outbreak. It’s not just about survival, it’s about family, motherhood, friendship, and the lengths people go to for love and loyalty. Beneath all the blood, running, and panic, there’s a deeper emotional layer that really hit me. Honestly, I think a lot of social media reviews missed that part. Many focused only on the surface-level scares and action but The Elixir has meaning beyond the gore. It made me scream, laugh, and even tear up a little. All in one movie night! The effects were realistic too, which made it even more immersive. By the end, I couldn’t help but feel there’s a part 2 coming (and I’m definitely watching it if there is!). Overall, it’s a good zombie film with heart, humor, and a story that stays with you after the credits roll. 💀 Thrilling, emotional, and unexpectedly funny. The Elixir is a must-watch for zombie fans!
