Nyameye Akumia

An amazingly produced show, with craft unlike any other and a premise probably unlike any you've ever seen before. The acting is amazing and the pilot had a very strong sense of purpose and tone. My only problem is that all of the groundedness was thrown out the window by the sixth episode (the beginning of the final quarter of the season). Hints of the troubles to come were gleaming from the episodes that came prior but the issues really shone in episode 6. The conflicts are way too many and almost none of them are well set up, too much stuff happens in one episode considering the cast is not that huge and the finale was a huge letdown as I wasn't hooked throughout the whole thing. The worldbuilding in the show is great but storywise it is executed mediocrely. The family is constantly relocating because of some sort of capture of thievery and that's about the only way the show expands its universe. I will say though, that the conflicts finally settled into a reasonable form by the end of the season and it looks as though season 2 will be miles better. Is it worth watching? YES Is it Apple's Game of Thrones? No. NOT YET.

This movie is IMPRESSIVE! Don't let any critic tell you otherwise. Everyone has the IMPERATIVE RIGHT to see the movie AT LEAST ONCE on a massive theatre screen. Seeing this in 3D is an experience I will likely never forget (especially since this is my first 3D viewing of a film). The CGI animation a good enough reason alone to see the film. Don't get me wrong, the 1994 animation still remains superior, but the 2019 remake does its best at pulling you into the world of Simba and Scar. I love each version of The Lion King equally. My audience erupted into APPLAUSE at the end of the movie and I think it deserved it. I will see it again and purchase the DVD when it's available.

What it lacks in strong characterization and good storytelling it makes up for with good over-the-top humour and GREAT setups and payoffs if you can recognize them. It doesn't take itself too seriously and revels in its childish mystery and conventional character arcs. It doesn't screw the ending and leaves a bitter-sweet (but mostly sweet) taste in your mouth after the credits. DEFINITELY worth the watch

Do I really need to explain why it has 5 stars?

A visually stunning storytelling masterpiece from Pixar yet again.

To those who think this movie doesn't deserve the 92% Rotten Tomatoes score, you clearly weren't paying attention. Ex Machina is a brilliant nosedive into the philosophy of what makes man "man". It creates a visceral response by blurring the line between humanity and A.I. and creates a unique form of empathy for our protagonist. It didn't need any mind-blowing plot twists. It was a simple story with a huge motive. It's a lot to unpack which gives it a lot of rewatch value.

Such an amazing movie that I highly recommend. Not only is it emotionally empathetic and very cathartic (especially for LGBTQ+ people), it is a realistic representation of the social stigmas and homophobic realities that continue to exist even today. It also realistically portrays the psychological effects this has on the characters and their conflict with religion. 11/10

This is an amazing animated series that stylistically brings to life the complex nature of the story it tells. The show handles very mature themes and makes bold choices in the way it draws parallels between mental illness and spiritualism - not unlike the equally amazing show, Bojack Horseman. It is a wild ride that ends with one of the most open-ended conclusions that personally kick-started a lot of discussions. MUST-WATCH 10/10
