I enjoyed every minute of the show! Great acting by a great cast.
The story was kinda unique and non-typical tbh, and that was one of the things which impressed me.
I loved King Lee Gon’s character. He was not only a benevolent monarch, but also his meaningful gazes and respectful treatment towards Lieutenant Jeong Tae-ul was really attractive and mind-warming. Lee Min Ho was a perfect match for the character. Lieutenant Jeong Tau-ul left me kinda surprised, cuz her character was the least stereotypical among all. She was strong, brave and full of energy, a kind of female character that we don’t see in series about such relationships often yet. Although the fact that King Lee Gon kept leaving Head Court Lady Noh, Jo Yeong and his well-wishers in worries by locking himself up in his study or randomly travelling to the other universe unannounced, and that Lieutenant Jeong Tae-ul treated the people around her, including Lee Gon, a bit coldly and bitterly many times, throughout the series, irritated me a lot 😅 I liked them all nonetheless. They both are charismatic characters.
The scene where Jo Yeong hugged Jo Eun-sup and said something like “Let’s meet one day again” when they were parting forever, absolutely made me cry, and the kinda relationship that Jo Eun-sup shares with his siblings + Jo Yeong shares with Lee Gon was absolutely sweet.
Now, not to mention how much I loved the architectural designs of the houses they showed (specially the Bussan Palace & PM Koo’s office), mainly cuz of their simplicity and elegance.
I loved its ending. Although I was expecting them to get married, and Tae-ul to become the Queen... nothing like that happened. They just kept being together and enjoying their life till the end. The part where they show Lee Gon and Tae-ul holding one-another’s wrinkled hands was beautiful!
Although some parts of the series confused me. I would surely suggest this show to anyone interested.
