It's been nearly a year since I read Joe Studwell's work after writing this review, so it might happen that some things I wish were in this review are obviously missing. So let's get to it.
Studwell's work is an ushering into the workings and incredible efforts of making the giants in the Asian economy today.
From the first chapter to the last, it was an embodying of the possibility to make things happen where the only necessary implement is the will to make it happen.
The incredible and awe inspiring turnaround of the East Asian countries is a testament to this fact with the failures of some of the Southeast Asian countries offering an opposite pointer to the possibilities of failure if everything is present but the will is lacking.
Overall, I must say Studwell offered incisive yet counterintuitive arguments on how the Asian giants leapfrogged their growth from a largely agrarian, dirt poor, corruption ridden countries to economic powerhouses.
