Started late watching this series, I could not understand the harsh critics after 2/3 episodes, started pretty solid. However, it then spirals down into an absolute hell of plotholes, lore breaking inconsistencies with the established canon, and doubtful tastes concerning morals. Worst part is, the setup is not the worse and if not for this masterclass of a time waster, the High Republic could be the new "media project" à la Clone Wars (the first line before AOTC). I went to the finale because I literally could not figure out the plot, but not because of some magic suspense : the actions of both heroes and villains are simply not understandable by the average folk, you go from scene to scene wondering why 'that' happened. Especially, every plotwist is both badly brought to the table, and needs a plothole to be 'rendered effective'.
