People need to stop criticising GA for developing as a group.
I loved HTBAHB & Dreamland. Not the biggest fan of Zaba but I will listen to it.
This album Dave is telling a story, one that makes you feel what he is feeling and actually coveys the feelings & emotions of a toxic love which can be so hard to let go.
It makes you feel the feelings you have with the internal conflict with yourself on do you stay or do you go…
whatthehellishappening conveys that initial lust feeling, going through a new relationship and not knowing how to navigate it. That you’re just so thrilled to go along with it that you don’t even stop to think about the consequences “I love this so much that I could cry”.
To then getting down the track list to “wonderful nothing” where you start to see the cracks, start to realise that there is no substance and you start to have your own personal boundaries pushed by your partner. “Truth hurts when it points right at you” almost wanting them to fight for this.
Then with I Can’t Make You Fall in
Love Again, finally starting to understand that you’re not enough and you can’t force the other person to change who they are in hope they’d love you. “I still wonder sometimes what would we have been like”
To How I Learned to Love the Bomb and that you never know which version of your partner you’ll get as you walk on eggshells around them not knowing if they’ll go off because their emotions are a bomb as that’s how they get conveyed.
I loved this album, cried and mourned relationships I saw in the same light as Dave did.
