Each performance in the film is praiseworthy particularly Aishwarya Rai’s. The music also adds to the overall appeal of the movie. The movie had an enjoyable visual experience, especially in the first part. However, it seemed to be rushing through the plot to fit the extensive novel, resulting in the omission of significant events and misinterpretation of certain storylines, including the climax. There are some unwarranted repetitions of scenes that could have been avoided. The true relationship between Maduranthanka and Nandini was not adequately portrayed, and the long-held secret of Sembiyan Mahadevi's biological son was not revealed. One would comprehend these concerns if they had read the novel. Nonetheless, the movie is still worth watching, despite these shortcomings.
