The movie 2001 had more exciting dialog, the storyline was one dimensional, and predictable. The movie dragged along with long sequences of nothing while skipping over key details with barely a mention. And what the heck was the 15-minute plot detour on the disabled space station with an enraged ape. This had no plot purpose but to needlessly kill a minor character and had nothing to do with the rest of the movie. The special effects were admittedly good but a movie can not be carried on effects alone. And any so-called sci-fi elements were ripped off of a number of other films with very little imaginative thought. Overall the film was mostly boring with nothing new to offer fans. And Yes the trailers were massively misleading, I went thinking I was going to see an action-packed sci-fi movie, not 2 hours of watching a has-been actor just phoning it in. He showed no emotion throughout the film, no connection to the character he is portraying, just staring is not acting. If it was then my Dog would be an Oscar winner. You can save your time and money and just watch the movie trailer and dream of the movie this could have been.
