so let me get this straight…someone almost died and was hospitalized for months, just for the top two finalists to be people who already know the judges? you can smell the rigging of the competition from a mile away. I loved the stunts, they gave good entertainment value, but I think it is beyond immoral to have someone almost lose his life for a thinly veiled promotion for the judges’ friends.
the winner has been on the main show before, as a contestant. he was also on AGT: Champions. and performed multiple times as a guest act, and was seen being buddy-buddy enough with Simon to involve him in a prank aimed at Sofia Vergara. I’m just saying, there’s something fishy, and the producers did absolutely nothing to hide it whatsoever. if it must return (and I don’t think it should), I hope they will be more transparent with weighting the “votes.” I mean, come on. “super fans?” I thought it was suspicious enough watching Champions, but here, every act besides the top two only perform once. you could argue they were here for exposure, but none of them stick out to me after this besides Wheels, and that’s only because they made someone who has spina bifida repeatedly climb a flight of stairs after his package was about the hardships of the pressure to be able to walk. I myself am disabled, though I am not a wheelchair user, and it hurt my soul having to see him climb those stairs just to do his act.
in essence: this was just a party for the judges’ friends, someone almost died just for Simon’s good friend to take home the winnings, and the show is not very friendly to disabled contestants. what a shame. I’m usually a fan of danger acts
