Horribly disappointed by this movie. Tried to see it through after several red flags but had to turn it off after watching the violent anti-semitism go unchecked during the family dinner scene. This movie portrayed two oppressed groups- Black Muslim people and Jewish People; not one group who oppresses another. The movie leaned into both anti-Semitic and anti-Black tropes without making any effort to debunk either. This is not comedy. The majority of the reviews I am reading here talk about the “white” family without any mention that they are Jewish. Jewish experiences were erased in this movie as they were lumped in with all white people. As a nation, we need to talk about both anti-blackness and anti-semitism, but this movie got it wrong and was a horrible portrayal of both Black and Jewish people. Particularly disturbing that it was released on Holocaust Remembrance Day.
