When I say this movie is bad I mean it is bad. Why did the bother to call it, “Civil War” when the civil war is in the background of a lackluster story. Let me be more specific, if you were expecting the film, “Civil War” to focus on what audiences want the most which is seeing the civil war and understanding its causes, this isn’t the film. The film shows the affects of a civil war through how the average citizen deals flows through a war torn America, but they never really show the actually war itself or gives its motives for why the country split apart in the first place. It also shows a few occasional war crimes committed, but you don’t really know which side is committing said war crimes or the reason why.
You won’t see any interesting fictional large scale battles like maybe a Battle for NYC or a Battle for (insert American city here). None. Besides 1. The battle for D.C., which was lackluster to say the least.
They should call this movie, “The Journalists’ Roadtrip” because that’s what the movie felt like and focused on. 3 main journalist who set out on a roadtrip from New York to DC in order to interview the President of what’s left of the original Union. They constantly put you through boring commentary between the characters which doesn’t leave an impact.
All in all, although my points are rather vague the film, “Civil War” is pointless, boring, soulless and most importantly side steps a story that should be based on a civil war with a boring adventure shared between journalists.
