The new Superman movie is an absolute mess from start to finish — a soulless, poorly executed attempt at reviving an iconic character that ends up doing more harm than good. The plot is practically nonexistent, jumping from scene to scene with no emotional weight, no stakes, and no real sense of direction — at times feeling more like a melodramatic TV soap than a superhero film. The dialogue is embarrassingly weak, filled with cringeworthy lines that sound like a bad first draft, and whatever humor they attempted was so forced and unfunny that not a single moment landed. Casting-wise, almost every character felt miscast and out of place, with the exception of Lois Lane and Mr. Terrific, who did the best with what little they were given. Superman himself was clearly trying, and the blame can’t fully fall on the actor — he was stuck in a role sabotaged by bad writing, poor direction, and a costume that looked like a loose, cheap cosplay that didn’t even fit properly. Visually, the movie is flat and uninspired, with lighting that looks like it came from a student film, generic backdrops that made Metropolis feel like a random city block, and little to no impactful special effects — it honestly looked like it was shot on an iPhone. Worst of all, Superman didn’t feel super — he was weak, forgettable, and completely lacking the presence or gravitas the character demands. The last 15 minutes barely scraped together something watchable, but by then, the damage was done. Overall, this movie fails at every fundamental level, disrespecting the legacy of one of the most iconic heroes in fiction. It’s not just a bad Superman movie — it’s a bad movie, period. 2.5/10.
