Fantastic movie. I went in with low expectations thinking they were going to have the female lead simply Star Wars Rey her way around but it was completely opposite of that. She doesn't magically gain powers and combat skills. The alien creature doesn't get killed by feminism and girl power. Instead, what we have is exactly how a strong woman character should be written, like ANY character, someone who makes mistakes and learns and becomes better. There's no wasted time in this movie. Every minute is with a purpose building her up. Also props to the actor who plays her brother, who I felt, was like a co-lead too. I love the sibling dynamic between them.
