As a practicing member of the church these women claim to be a part of, I checked this out of curiosity. I’ve heard a lot about these women and their stories online. I couldn’t keep watching past the first episode! For all those who don’t know, this show does NOT contain accurate information about The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and its members. There are so many good resources like the church website or other church-affiliated TV programs. Most of what these women stand for is entirely against the principles of the LDS church. "Momtok" is not about "fighting the patriarchy" or doing something good for the world. It's a show of lust, pride, and greed. I respect their right to live as they choose, but it's very misleading to advertise themselves as "mormon” on their influential platforms. That being said, I feel sorry for Taylor who seems to have had an abusive relationship with her parents. They may follow a lot of the church “rules,” but one of the most important church principles is LOVE for family and others (even when they disagree or choose to be different). I didn’t see very much love there. I hope that these women will be able to heal from whatever unpleasant or traumatic experiences they’ve had with the church and move forward in healthy ways.
