I have a really hard time dealing with characters doing things that put a massive strain on the suspension of disbelief.
Here we are faced with two (criminal) adults that in spite of a semi successful crime past appear, at first, to be savvy and "smart" enough to have pulled off a wildly successful heist and ran with the cash. Unfortunately, as a completion step, they choose a bizarre, blind time travel ritual hideout escape, rather than doing anything that would actually make any sense to these mundane, criminal-minded, people. (nevermind that this whole time travel thing makes the money heist itself irrelevant - logically speaking, they could have just played the lottery with a learned winning number from the future...)
At no point does the movie provide us with any character development background to indicate or support the idea that these two have any sense of the supernatural or background to indicate they would be truly willing to do a totally common heist plot and then just left turn into... whatever this plot is supposed to be.
This makes the whole remainder of the film feel tacked on and incredibly silly; especially considering how our protagonists behave throughout.
It forces one to wonder how they could have ever pulled off their heist if they are as mentally handicapped, unlikeable, and generally awful as they appear to be in the end.
