Unnecessarily dark, doesn't set the right tone compared to any other film in the series. I think the best version of this story lies somewhere between the theatrical release and the Zack Snyder Cut, easier said than done, I know. Darkseid and Synders version of Steppenwolf were absolutely awesome and that whole storyline should've stayed, but there was alot of unnecessary dismemberments during fights sequences that just didn't fit the "WB tone". Don't get me wrong I've got nothing against violent movies, it just doesn't always work and doesn't fit with either Wonder Woman, Aquaman or Superman movie tones. None of Martian Manhunters scenes seemed to fit into any reasonable storyline... awesome to see the guy, but his scenes felt out of place. Most of this Snyder cut felt convoluted and/or poorly edited, scenes didn't fit in place right. As much as the theatrical release felt lacking in backstory this version was all over the place with its story. Getting to know our heros better is great, but again there was too much unnecessary backstory that just slows the pacing too much. As I mentioned earlier I think the best version of this movie lies somewhere between the world threatening of Steppenwolf and Darkseid and some more character backstory in the Snyder cut mixed with the levity and character tones from the theatrical release.
Also why all the hatred for Joss Whedon....? He did what he was told and had limited freedom on the job. I would think everyone would know by now the Studio's dictating everything is the real problem and where blamed should be placed on the mistakes of the theatrical release.
