People who genuinely care of about improving race relations will find, “American Son,” either an eye opener or a movie based on real life. Life that some live daily, or certainly can relate to, or perhaps to others a wake up call to how human beings are treated or rather mistreated. I can see some saying it’s conversation starter, but Is it really? The conversation has been going on for a long time, well in some communities. But really how many communities address hard issues, life threatening issues? How many communities? Parents and guardians have a responsibility to educate children about right and wrong. Yet, society has a way of influencing our children as well as being tough and unjust. Parents and guardians need to take a honest look at their own views, how they were raised and decide to keep beliefs that are righteous and change views that are potentially toxic. Kerry Washington and Steven Pasquale the parents, bring that to the screen and you feel the emotions that are hard to hide behind. Very well done.
