I was excited to see my favorite Jedi get a whole show. I was hoping to see Obi Wan use his wit and cleverness to get out of situations, and maybe a good bit of him wrestling with internal struggles and practicing the force in secret to better train Luke. Really do a character study on post-order 66 Kenobi, you know?
I was, unfortunately, pretty disappointed…
The Kenobi show feels like a fan film you’d find on YouTube geared for eight year olds. It seems like everybody knows where Obi Wan lives, as well as that he’s a Jedi. Probably because he doesn’t seem to be hiding it at all, I mean he walks around with his lightsaber on his belt openly. Aside from some plot points that don’t make sense, the characters themselves fall short. The third sister is annoying because she just comes off as such a tryhard, and all the citizens Kenobi talks to feel like the same person. They talk like NPCs, and are conveniently always willing to help Kenobi and brush the fact that he is a Jedi under the rug, which they find out about 5 seconds after meeting him. It’s very obviously a Disney production.
That being said, Is it the worst show I’ve ever seen? No. Will I be watching the rest? Unfortunately, also no.
