My honest rating: 9/10
Spoilers ahead, don't read if haven't seen the film yet. But if you'd rather read the story here first, then go on...
I saw this film on Saturday, June 11, the day after its release, and I was so excited to finally see this after a long 4-year wait since the last film. I went with my boss from my job and some of his family, and they honestly also thought it should be at least an 8/10 rating. There were so many jump-scares and dark scenes with dinosaurs of all sizes literally everywhere in every scene of this film. There were even some very large locusts who come in huge swarms that devastated the fields of crops in many continents. That was actually something mentioned in the prologue of Michael Crichton's original novel, Jurassic Park. About how other companies were breeding locusts to destroy large amounts of crops in fields so that only their kind were going to be left, and therefore they could control the world hunger. Some might find it odd to have many scenes about the locusts in this film instead of focusing on dinosaurs, but it is actually in his novel, and his ideas are finally put onto screen after this being the sixth and last film in the entire series. Meanwhile, you have the main cast of characters from the last two films: Owen, Claire, and Maisie, plus original Jurassic Park (1993) cast including: Dr. Grant, Ellie Sattler, Ian Malcolm, and Dr. Henry Wu, and even a character only briefly in the first film coming back, Lewis Dodgson, the man who gave Nedry the embryo shaving cream canister in the red shirt. He comes back as a much older, white-haired man who owns another gene-splicing company known as Biosyn. Now Biosyn was also mentioned along with this character in the first novel as well. If anyone's to blame for all the new disasters within this film, it is chiefly him. But he takes no responsibility for his actions and is willing to fire any who go against him, including Dr. Malcolm. Some new characters are intruded along with some from the last two Jurassic World films. As for the dinosaurs, there are more kinds in this film than in any other film, including The Lost World (1997). Plus, the new dinosaurs for this film are a lot more like how they would really have been, with full feathery coatings and different sounds ,and some are even able to swim, including ones you never thought were able to. Maisie Lockwood is another very important character in this film, as she was in the last film, but this time you get to learn the truth about her, and why she is who she is. And Blue, the Velociraptor, i back again, but this time has a small raptor with her. Maisie soon discovers her and names her Beta. But after Biosyn men capture both Maisie and Beta, Owen, Claire, Dr. Grant, Dr. Sattler, and Dr. Malcom have to go after her, and find out more secrets as the film goes along. During the course of the film, the music gets so iconic and also so action-packed with each new scene, and here are recurring themes throughout for characters like Ellie Sattler, Dr. Grant, and Maisie. The music is once more composed by award-winning composer, Michael Giacchino, who also did the last two films. And there is a new very-large carnivore in this film who is even larger and mush stronger than the T-Rex. And the Dilophosaurus finally makes a comeback from since the first time we saw them in 1993. Overall, if you wanted to see this film, but are side-tracked by the bad ratings, well, I highly recommend seeing it for yourself and seeing what you think of it. Honestly, this movie is my all-time favorite dinosaur movie, and I can't wait to see it a few more times in theaters, and even in IMAX!
