While unnecessary, the story adds to the lesson of the third movie by saying that we all have to leave childish things behind for the sake of finding our purpose in life. It will probably go over most people's heads, especially children, but it concludes the series in a satisfying way. Could have left it at 3 but I'm glad a 4th was made.
