Watched a short documentary in which McKenzie Crook was interviewed about the programme. This got me curious so I thought I give it a watch..... I can only concur with most of the reviews given, it's an absolute gem of a series, so warm, funny and really well observed. Well done to all concerned.

Dull and ponderous, tries hard to reproduce a scandi noir feeling but fails miserably. Quite atmospheric but sadly apart from the reporter I struggled to get to grips with any the characters.

I like the main characters and Adrian Scarborough and Frances Barbara are always great value. I even like Max's back story which, though a little twee is decent enough. What I dislike are the actual plots which to be honest are woeful. Example; the eposode Golden Years was particularly annoying when a character (previously unmentioned) and crucial to the solving of the crime turned up 15 minutes before the climatic ending. New writers please.
