So, the mirror is evil and makes people kill and the siblings know this first hand. Yet, the sister acquires it in order to do what? Stop it? How? She doesn't seem to have any concrete plan. It just doesn't make sense to get involved with it again because, of course, it's evil and makes people kill. So there's your ending. Big surprise.

Happened upon this 17 years after release date. Never heard of it. Great movie. Recommend it. Quirky, funny, good cast, music by The Violent Femmes. Lead actors are still unknowns and that surprises me. Jonah Hill had a small part and he's the guy who has become famous.

I don't get why Rotten Tomatoes gave this 1 star. I liked it. Thought the robot was cool. Well- acted. The message was imparted nicely. Liked the Asian man (alien) who arrived on earth years before from Klaatu's planet to study humans. He tells him that even with man's many flaws - he "came to love them" for their inherent goodness.

I got so sick of the endless talking, talking, talking, and not ever resolving anything. They can't stay together, but can't stay away from each other and they just keep hurting each other as well as others in the process. I watched all of it to see how it ended, but I wish I hadn't bothered.

Trying to decide whether or not to watch a movie from reviews on here is just like trying to find a toy for your dog on Chewy. Some people's dogs love it & play with it all the time and other's hate it & wouldn't even touch it. Either it is holding up remarkably well or it was broken in 2 minutes. Anyway, this movie was so boring that I didn't even care how it ended & stopped watching about half-way through.

This movie is sooo slow. I kept watching because I wanted to see how it all added up. It added up to nothing. It's creepy and the camera work is interesting, but the storyline is ridiculous. It would've been better if Toni Collette's character had just been insane and responsible for events instead of her dead witch mother. It's got some gross parts I could've done w/o seeing.I don't feel luke writer/director is a genius. It feels more like he needs therapy.

At the end - it felt like I just wasted 1 hour and 53 minutes of my life.

As usual, there are people fawning over a supposed "art" film frought with meaning. Sorry, NOT. This has to be the slowest, most boring film ever made. I gave up after an hour because there's no way it was going to suddenly get interesting and I was ready to start banging my head against the wall to keep from slipping into a coma.

I can see why this didn't win any Oscars. The performance by Michelle Williams was over-the-top. (The rest of the cast was solid, though.) We are shown the first films made by the young Sam Fabelman starring his family & friends and what we see of them don't seem all that impressive, yet the audiences watching are in awe: oohing, aahing, hootin', hollerin', laughing uproariously, crying, and, well, losing their freaking minds, and it just doesn't ring true. Basically, it's a well-made coming-of-age family drama, but it's disappointing considering it's the semi-autobiographical tale chronicling the rise of the great Steven Spielberg made by the great Steven Spielberg.
