I saw the Julie Christie version when it came out and also years later, and though I loved Julie Christie, particularly in Dr. Zhivago, this version with Carey Mulligan is superior in every way. Christie while a good actress appears one dimensional next to Mulligan a superior film actress. The supporting cast is stronger with lesser reputations than the '67 version. I was delighted, captivated, and entertained.
