All promo material misleads viewer expectations--- hence the shock when plot shifts from intriguing somewhat comic "first act" into shocking (unnecessarily graphic for plot purposes) "second act." And the attempt at the end to make sense of it all to resolve the plot leaves everyone (audience & actors) hanging.
